– Following the 2008 embargo on the Islamic Republic of Iran and several other countries by SourceForge (which was triggered by US government pressure on open source projects to comply with US law), the makers of this software in 2010, in A statement called the move ridiculous, saying that Notepad ++, like all free and open source software on SourceForge, was outside the US government’s domain, created an independent domain and moved the project to another site. (SourceForge restriction is almost removed now)
